After Care

Post-Circumcision Care Instructions

Initial Care

  1. 1.
Hand Hygiene: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling the infant or changing diapers.
  2. 2.
Gauze Management: The initial gauze dressing may naturally detach post-circumcision. This is normal and expected.
  3. 3.
    Diaper Changes:
    • Apply a generous amount of Bacitracin ointment.
    • Light blood staining on diapers is normal and should not cause concern.

After 24 Hours

  1. 4.
Bathing Routine: Beginning 24 hours post-circumcision, provide daily warm baths with mild soap and water for five minutes. Continue this routine for five consecutive days.
  2. 5.
Gauze Removal: If the gauze has not naturally detached by 48 hours (after the second bath), parents should gently remove it.

Important Notes

  • Minor bleeding and blood-tinged diapers are normal in the immediate post-circumcision period.

  • Maintain proper hygiene throughout the healing process.

  • Contact your Mohel if you have concerns about healing or notice signs of infection. Green discharge may indicate an infection, while red, white, and yellow discharge are considered normal.
